Not Every Vegetarian Diet is the Same, but They Share One Thing.
The Vegetarian Diet is not necessarily a diet for high blood pressure. Still, you might consider it to eliminate certain high blood pressure factors or to maintain a normal blood pressure. Once, I thought if I didn't eat meat, I'd die. After all, I was from the Midwest United States, the land of meat and corn. Years ago in a fit of seriousness, I tried a raw foods Vegetarian Diet, quitting after three days even though I felt fine. I just couldn't take the strain of imminent death. Later on I discovered that there were different kinds of vegetarians. Some eat animal products and some don't. What they all have in common though is they don't eat slaughtered creatures. Vegans eat only vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and grains. Ova-vegetarians eat these plus eggs and dairy products. Studies show that ova-vegetarians live about seven years longer on the average than meat eaters. The reason why this high blood pressure diet might lower blood pressure naturally is through the elimination of saturated fats from meat. Ova-vegetarians might eat butter, but this doesn't seem to pose a problem. If you aren't interested in strict vegetarian fare, try a
raw foods diet.
Vegans have to do more food balancing the ensure they get enough protein. They may need to supplement with certain vitamins like niacin. I recommend the Ova-Vegetarian Diet over the Vegan. It compares well to these other diets:
Dash Diet,
Low Sodium Diet,
Mediterranean Diet.
