Resperate Blood Pressure Lowering Device
Do You Need It?

Let's take a look at Resperate and how it harnesses the natural power of breathing to quickly lower blood pressure.

Although I have not used this blood pressure lowering device myself, I am familiar with the paced breathing it introduces. That's its main feature, and it's definitely worth a look.

So, let's do that.


How does Resperate work?

Although there are other factors involved, high blood pressure is caused by blood vessels tightening up and narrowing, thus restricting blood flow. To compensate, your heart has to pump harder.

If there were some way to relax the blood vessels, your heart could return to its normal beating pattern and a normal blood pressure. That's what this blood pressure lowering device claims to do. Its paced breathing exercise relaxes tight blood vessels to quickly lower blood pressure.

What you do to achieve this is,

1. Put on headphones and attach a breathing sensor around your chest.
2. The sensor analyzes automatically your breathing pattern.
3. The unit then creates a melody composed of inhale and exhale tones.
4. Listen to the melody through headphones, and your body naturally follows the rhythms that will let you synchronize your breathing to the tones.
5. The unit will prolong the exhalation tone to slow your breathing, leading you into a therapeutic zone of less than 10 breaths per minute.
6. This allows the muscles surrounding the small blood vessels in your body to relax, allowing blood to flow more easily, significantly reducing your blood pressure.

There you have it. Now, let's look at some results taken from the Resperate web site.


Clinical results

In one study of 507 patients of average age 58 and average blood pressure 150/90, the device lowered high blood pressure by up to 36 points systolic and 20 points diastolic. Average reduction was 14 systolic and 8 diastolic.

The results were directly related to how long the patients used the device: those using the device for longer times got better results.

Older people achieved larger reductions as did those with higher starting blood pressure.

I think you can see that the average drop would not justify using a blood pressure lowering device alone. I strongly recommend adopting a high blood pressure diet as your main tool.
