Dairy Facts Often Omit How to Lower Blood Pressure Naturally
Dairy facts number one: Mothers have schemed unknowingly to lower blood pressure naturally since time began. If it hadn't been for mothers, I wouldn't have all this info on dairy products for you to choose from. I suspect that we should include this one, too: Mother's milk is best at controlling blood pressure. Probably it should be an ingredient in any
high blood pressure diet.
But, that is not practicable, so in modern times we have replaced mother with the cow, at least as regards milk. We've had fun. Dairy facts number two: Cow milk contains saturated fats, and that is bad for maintaining normal blood pressure, so the experts say. Okay, take out the fat! This gives us low fat milk, cheese and yogurt, all good to lower blood pressure naturally. Straight Milk: Drink low fat or skim milk. If you are lactose intolerant, drink lactose free milk that is low fat. Cheeses: Eat skim Mozzarella and low fat cottage cheese. Parmesan is pretty good, too. Another one of our facts states that, if you are allergic to milk, switch over to a dairy substitute. These substitutes are good in any high blood pressure diet program: soy milk, rice milk, almond milk and lesser known ones like oat and hemp milk. I favor soy and almond milk because they contain more protein. These milks have their own delicious tastes, but you might have to get used to them if you are a cow milk addict. But if you are on a
vegetarian diet,
try them. You might not favor the unique tastes of strange milks, but let me tell you a story how you might overcome that. I learned to like buttermilk after I saw a fragile girl drink some with relish. I ordered a glass, got up my courage, pinched shut my nose, and drank. Just before I drank, I decided that I liked it. After that, I did. Talked myself into it, you see. You have more power than you think! Now that we have expanded our dairy facts to cover non-dairy foods, let's considered other dairy substitutes: Soy is the only substitute that matches up with cow milk products. Try some soy cheese or one of the soy based spreads.
More dairy facts: Margarines have been heavily promoted as better for you than butter. This was a mistake as butter provides many beneficial factors. Margarine, on the other hand, contains hardened vegetable oils that are not natural foods. Another of our facts: Not all dairy saturated fats are bad. But, eat them in moderation. Don't gorge on butter or whole milk products. How about eggs? Egg yolks provide the nourishment for unhatched baby chicks. The yolks are a complete food. Eggs are fine in a high blood pressure diet. So, to lower blood pressure naturally, eat eggs in moderation. Okay, we've come to the end of our dairy facts for now. There will be more, so come back.
